John Bonfardeci, executive director

On Aug. 14, 2017, Life Care Centers of America honored Life Care Center of Plymouth, Massachusetts, twice during its annual awards banquet.

The center was named Facility of the Year for Life Care’s Northeast Division, which includes 25 skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities in Massachusetts, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island. In addition, John Bonfardeci, executive director, received one of two President’s Awards for the division.

The Facility of the Year Award recognizes the facility as the premier location in the division. Criteria for this award include excellent customer service, a strong activities department, an active volunteer program and involvement in the community.

Life Care Center of Plymouth was praised for its recent deficiency-free state survey, as well as its five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, its low rate of hospitalization for residents and its low turnover rate among associates.

The President’s Award recognizes distinguished service in the long-term health care management role.

Bonfardeci earned this honor for leading the building to achieve positive experiences for residents and demonstrating hard work and stewardship.

“John is the living example of servant leadership,” said Zo Long, Northeast Division vice president. “He works countless hours and the facility, always considering patients’ and associates’ needs as his No. 1 priority.”

“John Bonfardeci has demonstrated professional skill and compassion in dispatching his responsibilities to the associates, residents and families he serves,” said Beecher Hunter, Life Care president. “He has uniquely demonstrated a leadership style for others to emulate. This is a distinguished award to receive because it goes to the heart of our mission.”

Fifteen President’s Awards are presented annually to leaders of overall successful facilities or organizations within Life Care.
